What's your background in ultimate? I started playing ultimate my freshman year of high school. My older brother played and I thought it would be a good off-season sport for basketball. I quit basketball after my sophomore year and got half of the team to quit and play ultimate with me. I played for the following teams:
- Monarch High School 2009-2013
- Colorado Cutthroat YCC 2010, 2011, 2013
- Colorado Jackwagon 2011
- USA Junior Women's National Team 2012, 2014
- Molly Brown 2013, 2016, 2017
- Kali 2014-2018
- USA U-24 Women's National Team 2018
Favorite movie? This changes, but it's probably Get Out
Favorite book? The Book Thief
Favorite food? Cafe Mexicali Breakfast Burrito or Pizza Rolls
Favorite animal? Tiger
Walk up song? All Night- Big Boi
Pump up song? All Night- Big Boi, or anything Big Wild or GRiZ
What's your favorite Kali memory? Winning quarterfinals of nationals for the first time for anyone on the 2017 team. We had been pushing towards that goal every year prior to it happening, and it was the most amazing feeling the moment we all embraced each other. There's a really cool clip that Fulcrum got of us celebrating, and I slowed it down a ton to watch everyone's reactions on camera.
Why do role models matter? Role models matter so that the up-and-coming generation of ultimate players have goals they can set to work towards being like the player they look up to. Role models (for athletes, in particular) also matter as a voice outside of school/teams/friends, as things portrayed on media can go a long way.
What does equity mean to you? Equity to me in terms of ultimate means seeing an equal number of views on
highlight videos of women's teams as men's teams. There is still quite a disparity in media, and things such as an equitable pro league, and having everyone involved and invested in women's ultimate as much as they are in their consumption of men's ultimate will be the difference.
What's your favorite quote? This is my favorite quote I found 3 years ago from someone I follow on Instagram- “I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let's face it, friends make life a lot more fun.” – Chuck Swindoll
